Fight Lab NZ – Gym Rules

By signing up or attending class, you agree to the following:

- Training requires payment: We keep fees as low as possible, but rent costs. You must pay your fees either via membership signup or as a casual session (when space is available).

- Missed payments may result in suspension of booking privileges.

- Membership holds: Minimum of 1 week’s notice required to place your membership on hold.

- Towels are compulsory for all training sessions. Rental towels may be available (subject to availability).

- Handwraps are recommended for all members, and compulsory when using shared gloves.- Equipment care: While normal wear and tear is expected, any damage caused by improper use must be paid for.

- Footwear & hygiene: Clean training gear is required. No outdoor shoes on mats. Fingernails and toenails must be kept trimmed for safety.

- Children & guests: Non-training children or guests must remain in designated waiting areas and may not use gym equipment.

- Children’s classes: We hire coaches, not babysitters. We assume children will listen, show respect, and follow class structure. If unsure, parent supervision is welcome — but not parental coaching.

- Adult classes: These are run as adult classes. Younger members attending are expected to act as adults. Coaches will not yell, or give extra time if you choose not to listen — we will simply assume you already know everything and do not need to learn.

- Fighters class: This class has different rules posted around the gym. Sessions move quickly, with less time between drills and activities. As experienced fighters, you are expected to already know what to do. You will not be waited for.

- Sparring: By coach permission only. Casual members are not permitted to spar.

- Sparring / Fighters Class entry: If you want to spar or attend Fighters Class, you must first let us know so a coach can check if you are suitable. We don’t run separate testing sessions, but we will check the basics: Accuracy – are your shots hitting targets, or will they miss and injure? Control – are you in control of your power, or not yet safe to trust? Padwork – is your pad holding good enough to support your partner? You cannot sacrifice their training. You will be asked to hold pads for a coach; with only minor corrections, you should be able to hold properly.

- Health & safety: Inform a coach of any injuries, medical conditions, or recent illnesses that may affect training. You train at your own risk — Fight Lab is not liable for injuries caused by ignoring instructions or unsafe behaviour. Use mouthguards and protective gear where appropriate.

- Respect must be shown to all coaches, staff, and fellow members at all times.

- Agreement: By attending, you confirm you have read and agree to the full Terms & Conditions and Gym Rules.

Fight Lab NZ – Membership Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to all Fight Lab memberships and payments processed through GoCardless. By signing up for any membership option, you agree to the following:

1. Payment Method
- All payments are collected via GoCardless direct debit.
- By providing your bank details, you authorise GoCardless (on behalf of Fight Lab NZ Limited) to collect payments as agreed in your membership plan.

2. Payment Frequency & Amount
- Membership fees vary by plan:
  - Standard Membership – $30 per week, 26-week (6-month) minimum term.
  - Non-Minimum Term Membership – $40 per week, no minimum commitment.
  - Semi-Pro Membership – custom training package, 26-week (6-month) minimum term.
  - Pro Membership – custom training package, 26-week (6-month) minimum term.
  - Associate Membership – $10 per week, 26-week (6-month) minimum term. Note: This option does not include training sessions. It provides access to member (discounted) rates on all services and products, plus full app access.
- Payments are collected on a weekly recurring basis, starting from your agreed start date.

3. Minimum Terms & Contracts
- Memberships are subject to the minimum term specified above.
- Unlike most gyms, we do offer non-commitment options — please select this if it suits you better.
- Stopping payments before the end of the agreed minimum term will result in the recovery of all outstanding amounts.
- Fight Lab uses debt collection services and strongly enforces membership contracts.
- Reneging on a contract is considered a breach of trust and a significant sign of disrespect. Most of our classes are run on a volunteer basis and not for profit, so failure to uphold agreements also places the gym as a whole at risk. For these reasons, all such debts will be pursued in full.

4. Cancellations & Holds
- After the minimum term, memberships can be cancelled by providing 7 days’ written notice (email or in person at the gym).
- Holds: We are happy to place memberships on hold.
  - Holds must be a minimum of 1 week.
  - Holds are free of charge and there is no limit to the number of holds you may request.
  - We don’t believe in charging when you are unable to train.
  - If you do not provide an end date for your hold, you must check with us before returning to ensure space is available.
  - If 6 months pass from the start of a hold with no contact, your account will be cancelled and any outstanding fees will be collected.

5. Failed Payments
- If a payment fails, GoCardless may re-attempt collection automatically. This is set to occur twice, each time after 3 days, to give you a chance to sort it out.
- You can still train during this time — we trust you, accidents happen.
- Failed payments may incur an administration fee of $10. We try our hardest to avoid this, and only pass on these fees when absolutely necessary — after they have already been charged to us (and paid by us).
- Continued non-payment may result in suspension of membership and recovery action.

6. Refunds
- Payments are non-refundable, except where required by New Zealand consumer law.
- If you forget to cancel your membership or notify us, please understand that we have been holding a very limited training spot open for you. We ask members to take this into account when requesting refunds.

7. Changes to Fees
- Fight Lab reserves the right to update membership fees with 30 days’ notice.
- Members may cancel (after their minimum term) if they do not accept the new rates.

8. Responsibility
- It is the member’s responsibility to ensure sufficient funds are available on the due date.
- Members must keep their payment and contact details up to date with Fight Lab.
